Get to Know Tammy
Guided by Passion
I knew being an attorney was part of my destiny and my purpose. I found my passion and what gets me out of bed every single day and gets my juices flowing. Away from the office, my truly great loves are my Yorkies, Harley and Truffles. Yes, I am one of those dog moms that loves dressing my dogs up in clothes! When I am not shopping for new wardrobes for my fur babies, I also enjoy painting, cooking, and listening to country music. Traveling is another great love of mine with Belize and South Africa being at the top of the list of my favorite destinations.
Tammy was born in Texas, where she spent most of her life. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Master of Science in Management and Leadership, and Master of Business Administration at Western Governor’s University.
A particularly tumultuous marriage and divorce inspired Tammy to attend law school. She moved to Puerto Rico to attend law school at Inter American University of Puerto Rico. During law school, Tammy completed more than 280 hours of pro bono work by participating in several internships, including the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in Dallas, Texas, the ACLU of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated at the top of her class, Summa Cum Laude, earning her Juris Doctor.
Tammy relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico to begin her legal career as a Children’s Court Attorney for the Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD). Her passion for producing the best possible outcomes for the children and families of New Mexico helped lay the foundation for her successful and impactful experience litigating abuse and neglect cases. Following her time at CYFD, Tammy worked as an attorney for the Health Care Authority (HCA) in the Child Support Services Division (CSSD), where she gained extensive knowledge and a deep understanding of child support.
Tammy discovered her passion for family law advocacy while shadowing and learning from experienced family law attorneys during law school and after becoming an attorney. Her work with CYFD and child support not only formed the cornerstone of her legal career, but also provided the perfect catalyst for her transition into private practice as a family law attorney. Tammy combines this experience with her considerable life experience, exceptional attention to detail, tenacious advocacy skills, and love for the courtroom to achieve the most positive outcome possible for her clients and their families. Helping people is not only what she does, but an integral part of who Tammy is.
