As a proud Las Cruces native I am thrilled to be able to practice in my hometown. This community gave me so much, and I hope to give back personally and professionally. Now that I am home, every morning I love to look to the east and see the sun rise over the Organ Mountains, reminding me of my beautiful hometown, and why I do this work, to help people.
Outside of work, I love to grill, watch a baseball game and spend time with my family. As a former high school baseball coach, I was engaged before, during and after games. I bring that same commitment to the clients I represent, and will show up and help them navigate the challenges they may face.

Oscar Cobos practices family law at New Mexico Legal Group. A Las Cruces native, he is committed to giving back to his community by providing effective legal representation in both Spanish and English. He prioritizes clear communication, trust, and helping clients move forward with confidence, especially during challenging family law matters. Oscar takes a client-focused approach to divorce and family law, recognizing that these cases involve both legal and personal challenges. He works closely with clients to navigate issues such as divorce, custody, and other family-related matters with clarity, responsiveness, and practical solutions tailored to their goals.
Oscar graduated from New Mexico State University as a double major in Spanish and Criminal Justice and went on to attend the University of Colorado Law School. While at CU Law, he participated in the Criminal Immigration Clinic, where he represented clients charged with misdemeanors in Boulder County, assisted with bond and motions hearings, and supported clients with DACA renewals. This experience strengthened his courtroom advocacy skills and his ability to guide clients through high-stress situations.
After being admitted to the New Mexico Bar, Oscar worked in civil defense. He assisted firm shareholders in all aspects of litigation. He also gained experience in creditor rights, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy, building a strong foundation for handling complex legal and financial issues.
He brings this well-rounded experience to his family law practice, allowing him to effectively handle cases involving complex financial assets, high-conflict dynamics, and litigation.
