Get To Know Sophie
Committed to Clear, Confident Advocacy
As the second oldest of five children, I grew up in a big family. That experience taught me patience, but most importantly, it taught me how to navigate conflict. I know that the legal system can be overwhelming, so my goal is to help clients feel supported, informed and confident along the way. I aim to make all my clients feel heard and respected, regardless of their situation. Overall, I strive to make interacting with the legal system as manageable and easy as possible.
Sophie grew up in Leesburg, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. While an undergraduate, she received the University Award for Projects in the Arts, the Mildred’s Lane Award and Residency, and was an Aunspaugh Fifth-Year fellow.
After spending time in the arts, Sophie earned her juris doctor at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. She was determined to use her legal knowledge and skills to help clients in navigating the legal system. While in law school, she participated in the Jeanette Lipman Children’s Defense Clinic, the Public Interest Law Review, served as co-president of the Trial Advocacy Board trial team, and took many family law courses. She even earned an award for her coursework in Children and the Law, as well a faculty-nominated award in Criminal Law and an award for excellence in trial advocacy. After graduation, she moved to New Mexico to work for the Law Offices of the Public Defender as a trial attorney, defending indigent clients in Albuquerque. While working as a public defender, Sophie refined her skills in courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and working closely with clients to resolve their cases. She now uses the skills she has developed in family law and divorce law.
Sophie is a strong advocate in court and an empathetic listener. Most of all, she enjoys assisting her clients in finding amicable resolutions to their cases, whether in negotiation or advocacy. Sophie’s aim is to empower her clients, and to support them in feeling they have agency in the complex legal system.
