Meet Darin
Darin Kyle McDougall is a graduate of the New Mexico School of Law. He began his legal career as a Public Defender, where he honed his negotiation and trial skills in hundreds of criminal cases and developed effective case management systems and trial techniques. After his time as a Public Defender, Darin continued to represent criminal defendants throughout the state of New Mexico in cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to cases where the defendant faced over 30 years of incarceration.
Darin also has expertise in the area of divorce and family law, where he combines real-world experience with a strong commitment to his clients and a high level of legal skill to provide outstanding results in his cases. Darin handles cases statewide in the area of divorce and family law, including divorce, custody, property, and retirement division, and handles a full range of cases from simple, uncontested matters to complex divorces.
As a compassionate mediator, Darin works with parties that are willing to try to divorce without long fights in the courtroom. Darin works on the hardest family law cases, helping his clients navigate safely removing themselves from homes with domestic violence, protecting children against abuse, or being the shield for clients who are falsely accused. Darin works diligently for his clients seeking or defending themselves in matters of Domestic Violence Orders of Protection, often called Restraining Orders.
Darin is deeply connected to the legal community in New Mexico, with a large network of judges, attorneys, and court staff with whom he has developed strong working relationships. Darin is also community service-oriented and is a former Director on the board of the New Mexico Young Lawyers Division, where he worked on programs for first responders, and law students, and organized Constitution Day where judges and attorneys spend a day teaching 5th-grade students about our Constitution.
